FedEx 2026 Rate and Surcharge Updates

Starting in January 2026, FedEx will implement several pricing and surcharge adjustments that will directly affect shippers in the U.S. and globally. Businesses relying on FedEx services should prepare in advance for these changes, as they may impact logistics costs significantly.

January 12, 2026

* Home Delivery Surcharges:

  FedEx Date Certain Home Delivery®, FedEx Evening Home Delivery®, and FedEx Appointment Home Delivery® surcharges will be billed per package rather than per shipment.

* Additional Handling Surcharge Dimension:

  A cubic volume criterion will be added to the existing requirements.

* Oversize Charge:

  Both cubic volume and weight criteria will be added, expanding beyond the current rules.

What This Means for Shippers

These updates reflect FedEx’s continued adjustments to rising operational costs, higher package volumes, and increasing demands in the e-commerce supply chain. Shippers can expect higher shipping expenses, especially for bulky, oversized, or high-volume items. Careful cost planning and exploring discounted account options will be crucial in 2026.
